At close proximity to the tourist areas of Heraklion, Heronissos and Malia is the charming vacation paradise
of Stalida (Stalis). Stalida is known for its lovely sandy beach and excellent tourist infrastructure. From here visitors have easy access to many of the famous archaeological, historical and natural sites in the Heraklion.
There’s a wide selection of accommodation, cafes, tavernas, small shops and a few bars. If you choose not to rent a car, be assured that there is excellent bus service running between Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos. You’ll find some good beaches here too, as the stretch of coastline is mostly sandy. Best time to visit Stalida is in summer months.
