Crete is not as hot anymore in September. The first two weeks of September see daytime temperatures around the 30's. Evenings are still warm but occasionally a jumper maybe required. The Cretans - especially the ones who work with tourism - although tired from the summer season are getting more relaxed. Life in Crete still outdoors and especially in September the evenings are warm and lazy. The second two weeks see daytime temperatures of mid 25's. Crete's beaches are quieter and the tavernas more sedate! Evenings become a little cooler and a jumper may be needed. Spetember is also one of the preferred periods for hikers. One drawback is that, as it has not rained for several months, the landscape is quite dry. September is a beautiful month to enjoy Crete isle at its best.
