Paleochora is Crete’s gateway to the Libyan Sea. It is one of the most beautiful towns in Chania with extremely good weather where the summer lasts for over five months! The coastline around Paleochora stretches for 18 kilometers offering a vast variety of beautiful beaches waiting to be discovered. To the west, the notorious and exquisitely beautiful “Pachia Ammos” beach’s sands are interrupted by a few wild rocks. Should you choose to go east, do not forget to visit the beach called Chalikia. Both beaches are surrounded by verdant little trees called salt cedars and every year they are awarded with the EU blue flag for the quality standards that they both have. Also on the east is “Sougia” beach and in close proximity the uniquely beautiful and famous “Elafonisi” and “Balos” beaches. The daily life rhythm of Paleochora is ideal for summer vacationing. During the day you can enjoy pleasant conversations with the local people in petit, traditional cafes and taste the delicious Cretan cuisine in any one of the numerous taverns.
