Crete weather in October is not as hot - the sea remains warm and there are fewer tourists. The Cretans - especially the ones who work in the tourism industry, although tired, are relaxing. This is an excellent time to visit for hikers. Since there has been no rain for number of months the earth is very dry. At the end of October tourism seems to come to a halt. It is still possible to swim some days. This is not a bad time to be on Crete if you are prepared to risk some days of rain. You’ll need a light jacket for late evenings, especially if you plan a visit into the mountainous Crete. The only drawback is that is has not rained for several months so the countryside is dry.
October temperatures remains user-friendly, averaging around 25 degrees, and there are still many people enjoying the beatiful beaches of Crete island, including the last influx of tourists. Some rain falls, but not too often.
