The Jujy weather in Crete is hot, very hot, too many tourists especially since the Greeks have discovered the
island as an excellent holiday destination. The living is outdoors, tavernas, bars and discos are very busy, prices are higher and you may have difficulty finding accommodation unless you have booked early and in good time.
Daytime high temperatures range from 20-38 degrees Centigrades. Ultimate time for swimming, cooling down and using plentiful strong sunscreen. it may be cooler in the mountains around Crete island especially at night.
The sea of course is wonderfully warm and if you search a little it is possible to find villages and beaches that remain fairly quiet. Without air-conditioning it may be difficult to sleep. July's glorious sunny days give way to busy beaches Tavernas. During the end of July, you will notice that the tavernas in Crete island are often full with
long tables. Gone are the couples and families who frequented the quiet Tavernas during May (and September) - now that the schools are closed, whole families holiday together - often dining out with friends.
