Agia Marina is located ten kilometers west of the town of Chania. The area is famous for its long sandy beaches, the exceptional facilities and the opportunities that rise for sporting activities. Being a tourist resort with great development and intense night life, Agia Marina has many hotels, taverns and restaurants with great food, bars, coffee shops and various other stores. Besides the sandy beach of Agia Marina, you can also swim at the smaller beaches of the nearby settlements of Kato Stalos and Platanias.
The places of interest in the area include the small church of Agia Marina, from which the village was named after, and 1.5 kilometers to the South, is Nerospilia; a very interesting cave with stalactites and stalagmites which during the Minoan years was used as a place of worship.Also, the surrounding area can easily and readily be explored using the intercommunity trains. Chania, with the famous old town and the Venetian harbor, is located only a few kilometers from Agia Marina. There is a bus stop for the local intercity buses with a very frequent service.
